Peter Turecek is a Partner in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence Practice in the Americas region, with an emphasis on investigative due diligence, business intelligence, corporate contests and multinational investigations. He also conducts a variety of other investigations related to litigation support, asset searches, employee integrity, and securities fraud. He works for a variety of clients, including major financial institutions, private equity and law firms, corporations and high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
Peter’s recent projects include:
- For a financial services client underwriting a deal in Latin America, investigative due diligence revealed few issues in public records, but in-depth source inquiries identified significant reputational issues and allegations of corruption involving numerous key subject, widespread among both regulatory agencies and business partners.
- When competitors claimed personal attribution for key investments at a major financial institution client, Peter conducted a global independent assessment regarding the portfolio of investments to determine the actual and appropriate attribution of the key individuals who worked on various aspects of each investment, including the sourcing of the investment opportunities, management of the assets, board assignments and exit work.
- Assisting an entertainment company that discovered internal fraud issues, Peter led an investigation, including computer forensics, to learn the extent of the fraud as well as supported litigation of the involved senior executives.
Before joining Control Risks, Peter was a Senior Managing Director at Kroll Associates for over 23 years, including interim positions heading the firm’s Boston and Chicago offices. Peter holds an M.A., International Political Economy & Development, from Fordham University and a B.A. Political Science, from Drew University. An instrument-rated private pilot, Pete additionally pursues an aviation industry niche and has conducted due diligence and litigation investigations on behalf of aviation industry clients.
