Aniseh supports public and private sector organisations investing and operating in the MENA region. She helps them understand political risks and assess opportunities and challenges for global investments and activities in the region, both through custom advisory work and contributions to our subscription services.
Based in Abu Dhabi, she provides political, security, and operational risk analysis, specialising on Iran and Iraq politics, geopolitics, and regional security.
Aniseh has over a decade of experience in international relations and security in the Middle East. She has worked in academia, think tanks and consultancies, including NATO Defence College, London School of Economics and Political Science, the European Council on Foreign Relations and various international consultancy firms.
Prior to joining Control Risks, Aniseh worked at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), where she led the Middle East and North Africa programme, working on security and geopolitics in the region and conducting research on projects focusing on drones proliferation, radicalisation, Iran’s nuclear proliferation and foreign policy and security in Yemen.
She earned her PhD from the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, with a dissertation on the diplomatic initiative of France, Germany and the UK on the Iranian nuclear issue.
Aniseh is fluent in Farsi and Italian. She wrote for outlets such as Foreign Policy, BBC News, The Telegraph, and frequently appeared as a commentator on the CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Sky News, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
