Vita is an associate consultant at Control Risks Russia & CIS practice engaged in business intelligence and due diligence investigations in the region with a special focus on Kazakhstan. Prior to joining Control Risks, Vita researched China-Russia relationship for a number of private and non-profit organisations in Russia, including the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She continues to contribute to Carnegie’s coverage of the current trends of the China-Russia relationship on a regularly basis.

Recent tasks that Vita has worked on include:

  • A benchmarking assessment of the strategies that several international consumer goods companies have been adopting in their divestment processes in Russia in 2022, for an international retailer with a chain of stores in Russia
  • An asset tracing in Kazakhstan, as part of a multijurisdictional investigation for an international investor in a legal dispute with a European energy company with assets in Kazakhstan and Norway
  • An in-depth due diligence investigation focused on an ESG and sanctions risk assessment into a major Russian consumer goods company to whom the client, an international FMCG conglomerate, was considering selling their Russian assets amid the latest stage of Russia's conflict with Ukraine in 2022
  • Vita holds a BA in Chinese history from Moscow State University, and an MA in economics from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. She also holds an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford. She speaks Russian, English and Mandarin Chinese.
