Bota's recent projects include: 
  • An assessment of election-related threats across several post-Soviet countries for an international technology company
  • A market entry report on Russia's Tatarstan region for an Asian infrastructure investor
  • A regular threat monitoring report on developments in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine for an international airline
  • A stakeholder map of Russia's key oil and gas influencers for a Gulf-based company

 

Before joining Control Risks, Bota helped build negotiation workshops focused on geopolitical crisis scenarios at Negotiation Design & Strategy in Boston. Prior to that, she worked on human rights and civil society projects for nonprofits in Central Asia, as well as contributing to two published reports while interning at Peace Research Institute in Frankfurt, Germany. 

Bota has a master's degree in Russian and Eastern European studies from Harvard University focused on comparative politics and economics of the region. She speaks English, Russian, and Kazakh.
