Anita Barker is a Partner and leads the Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence team based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Anita supports clients throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, advising on both proactive and reactive fraud risk management.

Anita’s areas of expertise include forensic computing, forensic accounting, fraud risk assessments and financial and non-financial investigations. Anita is a trained first responder in the imaging and collection of data from numerous digital devices, allowing pertinent e-Data to be captured and secured early on in an investigation.


Recent projects include:
  • Managing multiple internal investigations for a government entity into conflicts of interests, abuse of power and override of internal processes.
  • Coordinating a global regulatory investigation, at a regional level, into allegations of the payments of bribes for the award of a significant construction contract.
  • Coordinating, at short notice, the forensic imaging and collection of data from a subject’s laptop in Saudi Arabia amid concerns that the subject had misappropriated company funds, and managing the resulting forensic accounting investigation.
  • Providing financial analysis and expert support to a real estate developer who required assistance with the assessment of a claim received from a contractor following significant delays to a residential and commercial development project in the UAE.

 

Prior to joining Control Risks, Anita worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Middle East and UK for more than 12 years, providing a range of financial accounting, auditing and forensic services to clients across Europe and the Middle East.  Anita is a UK trained Chartered Accountant (Fellow) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish.
