Rose is an Analyst in Control Risks’ Political and Country Risk practice in East Africa. Based in Nairobi, Rose has experience advising a wide range of actors on the regulatory, political, integrity, and security risk landscapes across the region. As part of this, she helps a wide range of client develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies with governments, NGOs, and local communities.  

Recent tasks that Rose has worked on include:

  • Leading the delivery of a market entry assessment in Kenya for a multinational financial services company. This included analysis of the extent to which the political dynamics in the country could pose regulatory and integrity risk to the client, as well as an evaluation of the power dynamics in the client’s targeted sector.
  • Leading the delivery of a stakeholder assessment and engagement strategy for a multinational mining company with operations in Congo (DRC).
  • Leading the delivery of a political risk assessment for a multilateral development finance institution in Somalia. As part of this, she assessed the extent to which the weakness of government structures in Somalia impacts the management of various sectors.
  • Leading the delivery market-entry assessment in Madagascar for an international mining company. She also developed a stakeholder engagement strategy that would best promote the client’s interests.
  • Rose has a strong focus on fragile and conflict-affected states, notably Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Madagascar. She also has experience advising clients in more stable markets such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Rose holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Strathmore University, where her research focused on the conflict dynamics and UN peacekeeping in the Central African Republic (CAR) and Congo (DRC). She speaks fluent French, English and Kiswahili, as well as basic Spanish.
