Dr. Victoria Mitchell is part of Control Risks’ dedicated maritime security team, providing global analytical coverage of maritime security issues. Victoria is an expert in the law of the sea and holds a PhD that addresses this and maritime security cooperation.
Her academic background and previous intergovernmental experience include a focus on maritime boundary delimitation. She maintains an in-depth knowledge and understanding of maritime boundary issues together with current developments in this area and advises on issues that may arise in the context of maritime disputes.
Recent tasks that Victoria has worked on include:
Before joining Control Risks, Victoria interned with an intergovernmental organisation’s ocean governance and natural resources team with where she was involved in technical assistance programmes relating to maritime delimitation and the blue economy. Victoria’s PhD at the University of Greenwich focused on law of the sea and maritime security. She conducted research fieldwork in Central and West Africa and presented on maritime security matters at national and international conferences.
