Tristan works as a senior analyst at Control Risk’s Paris office, where he is responsible for the coverage of issues related to terrorism and militancy within the Global Risk Analysis Sub-Saharan Africa desk. He also leads the monitoring and reporting for security and political trends in the Sahel region, as well as Control Risks tactical intelligence service for northern Mozambique, providing daily insights on security threats in Cabo Delgado to a range of clients. 

Recent tasks that Tristan has worked on include:

  • Leading day-to-day coverage of security and political dynamics in northern Mozambique for a range of private and third sector clients.
  • A threat assessment report for an international firm operating in the renewable energy sector in Niger.
  • Political and security threat assessment for a logistics company operating in central and northern Mali.
  • Monthly political and security intelligence gathering for Mali and Burkina Faso for clients in the extractive sector.
  • Prior to joining Control Risks Tristan worked as the lead analyst for political and security risks in Sub-Saharan Africa for the Risk Advisory Group, a London based consultancy, where he focused on militancy and terrorism, including in Mozambique. He also worked for the International Crisis Group in Dakar, carrying out research of violent extremism in the Sahel. Tristan holds a master’s degree in political economy from King’s College London.
