Özgecan Atasoy-Akdeniz

Senior Consultant

  • Europe
  • Pre-transaction support
  • Post-investment support
  • Geopolitical & strategic risk advisory

Özgecan advises multinational corporate clients, investment funds and law firms on commercial, political and regulatory risks in Türkiye and Türkiye linked exposures. With hands‑on investigative experience and an extensive public‑ and private‑ sector network, she supports clients at critical decision points that shape investment, partnership and operational outcomes in complex risk environments.

Her work focuses on complex strategic intelligence and advisory engagements, including market entry and expansion assessments, reputational and stakeholder analysis and strategic risk problem‑solving. This is complemented by integrity due diligence, litigation support and asset tracing, sanctions and trade compliance analysis, and investigative work drawing on both open‑source research and discreet human source enquiries.

Recent engagements include:

  • Leading a post‑investment review of whistleblower allegations involving senior executives and local stakeholders in southern Türkiye, identifying improper practices and relationships that threatened business continuity and informed client remediation decisions.
  • Directing a cross‑border political risk assessment of a highly specialised medical technology firm based in İstanbul, supporting partnership decisions for a global investment fund.
  • Delivering a pre‑partnership integrity assessment of a Turkish business family, identifying undue relationships and reputational exposure to support partner selection and risk mitigation for a Europe‑headquartered corporate client.

Born and raised in Türkiye, Özgecan combines deep local knowledge with international advisory experience. She holds a master’s degree in Sociology from University of Cambridge in the UK and began her career with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, working on assistance programmes and engaging extensively with beneficiaries and policymakers. She later transitioned into investigations and risk advisory, supporting government and corporate clients through due diligence and integrity engagements.
