Nitaant works in our South Asia business intelligence practice, based in Singapore. He works closely with private market investors and multinational corporations on pre-investment due diligence, complex problem solving, strategic intelligence, and investigative assignments. He has led multiple projects in the renewables, infrastructure, real estate, technology, and financial services sectors across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.  

Recent examples of cases Nitaant has managed are: 

  • A pre-acquisition due diligence into one of India’s largest renewables companies, which had a politically exposed CEO and was adversely impacted by substantial payment delays by its state-controlled power purchasers. 
  • Assessment of Bangladeshi manpower agencies that identified, trained, and deployed blue collar workers to developed nations, with a particular focus on their labour welfare standards and compliance with our client’s and international human rights policies.
  • Real-time risk monitoring using specialised social media analysis tools to gauge the reaction of key public sector stakeholders and labour union leaders for a client that was moving its manufacturing base within India.
  • On-the-ground intelligence gathering for a publicly-traded US technology company whose subsidiary in Maldives had allegedly entered into an overpriced technology contracts and bribery with local government agencies.
  • An intelligence-gathering and forensic accounting-driven investigation for a sovereign wealth fund into its investee company, whose senior executives were suspected of laundering and embezzling money.
  • Prior to joining Control Risks, he worked at a data analytics firm, where he tested various revenue leakage and fraud-detection solutions. Nitaant has a bachelor’s degree in economics with specialisations in mathematics and statistics from Mumbai University. 

    Nitaant leads our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiative for South Asia and participates in local and regional events and trainings on DEI-related themes, particularly around gender equality.
