Marina Pera is a Researcher at Control Risks for the Southern Cone. She produces regular updates for Control Risks’ online services and conducts research for consultancy reports on political, operational, reputational and security risks.

Recent tasks that Marina has worked on include:

  • A threat assessment for a non-government organization in Brazil to map the main threats ahead of the 2022 Brazilian presidential elections, including a detailed analysis of the influence of the armed forces, political actors and social media platforms.
  • An assessment of the social unrest outlook in Brazil ahead of the 2022 elections for a global tech firm.
  • A pre-market entry assessment in Uruguay for a global company in the data center sector.
  • A security threat assessment for a global oil and gas company interested in operating in Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

    Before joining Control Risks, Marina was an intern on the political analysis team at a financial firm as well as with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Marina graduated from PUC São Paulo with a bachelor’s degree in international relations and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in global governance at PUC São Paulo. She is a native Portuguese speaker and speaks fluent English and Spanish.
