Marina is an Analyst for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, based in our Mexico City office. She produces regular updates for our online services and writes consultancy reports on political, operational, reputational and security risks.  

Examples of Marina’s recent projects include:

  • Security threat assessments of multiple states in Mexico for a local financial company to evaluate how the dynamics of common and organized crime could impact their personnel 
  • Political outlook and security threat assessment of Mexico for a global food production company evaluating future investments in the country 
  • Portfolio risk assessment and monitoring for a private equity firm to evaluate country risk for new opportunities and to monitor risks related to its existing investments, with a specific focus on mining assets in Brazil 
  • Country risk assessment for a Canadian sovereign wealth fund interested in investment opportunities in the mining sector in Brazil 
  • A security threat assessment for a UK-based real estate company carrying out a project for a high-net worth (HNW) individual, in the context of the personnel’s visits to the site of interest in Argentina 
  • Marina was previously based in São Paulo, where she was an Associate Analyst for the Southern Cone, with a focus on Argentina and Uruguay. Before joining Control Risks, Marina worked as an intern at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the political analysis team at a financial firm.  

    Marina holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and a master’s degree in global governance, both from PUC São Paulo.  

    She is a native Portuguese speaker and speaks fluent English and Spanish.
