James serves as a Principal in Control Risks Crisis and Security Consulting practice based out of Singapore. He leads the embedded consulting and protective services teams for the Asia Pacific region, providing direct security support to clients to protect their people, assets and reputation. 

James advises clients across a range of sectors on appropriate security solutions for their projects, including the recruitment, deployment and management of specialist consultants for assignments across the region. Concurrently, he leads the development, management and delivery of security related projects including on close protection, event security and training.

Recent tasks that James has worked on include:

  • Advising on complex crisis management for clients operating in Myanmar.
  • Project managing the delivery of multijurisdictional security support in region.
  • Overseeing the development and growth of embedded consulting teams, notably in global security operations, threat monitoring and intelligence spaces.
  • Leading the development, implementation and enforcement of compliance protocols for a major e-sports client globally, operating in the COVID-19 pandemic environment.
  • Before joining Control Risks, James spent over a decade in the Australian Army, before leading a 24/7 intelligence and operations team covering the region. James holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics, along with qualifications in intelligence and public safety.
