Edward is a Principal in Control Risks’ business intelligence practice for South-East Asia. Based in Singapore, he is a senior investigator who has worked on hundreds of business intelligence, due diligence and problem-solving investigations across South-East Asia, covering dozens of sectors.

Recent tasks that Edward has worked on include:

  • A detailed competitor analysis in the tech sector in South-East Asia, focused on understanding and comparing the stakeholder engagement, commercial and political/social strategies of key competitors.
  • A conflict of interest investigation into key principals of a large Cambodian renewable energy company, triggered by whistle-blower allegations of bid rigging and collusion.
  • Advising a multinational company on political interference and corruption regarding licenses and permits.
  • Prior to joining Control Risks, Edward worked at Kroll Associates in London, where he managed, wrote, and researched due diligence and business intelligence reports focusing on Indonesia, Malaysia, and Africa. Edward spent 6-and-a-half years in Jakarta, Indonesia, working as an editor and journalist at The Jakarta Post prior to establishing a corporate writing and translation company that served major international companies. Edward also has experience in management consulting, having worked on several product development and strategy consulting projects in London.

    Edward holds an MBA from Cass Business School in London, and a BA in English Literature from Durham University in the UK. In addition, he holds an Indonesian language advanced proficiency certificate from Satya Wacana Christian University in Central Java, Indonesia.
