Danny is a Chartered Security Professional and Fellow of the Security Institute who provides support and business protection advice to Control Risks’ clients and leads our Security Design Engineering practice across the EMEA region.
Recent tasks that Danny has worked on include:
Principal security risk consultant overseeing a multi-million-dollar security enhancement program for an extractives industry super major in North Africa, including security risk assessments and developing strategic and operational level security management procedures for use across the organisation and region.
Conducting security reviews for a major data centre provider. This included developing a strategic level concept of operations for security management of the client sites and designing the physical and technical security measures selected to mitigate the identified security risks to an acceptable level.
Development of an organisational resilience target operation model for a multinational financial services organisation. Danny worked with executive and senior management teams, along with board and business units to better understand where resilience as a function should sit within the company, and what capabilities were required to support resilience activities as part of that function.
Organisational security management system review for a West African national energy company, including multiple security vulnerability assessments of critical infrastructure and projects sites across the country.
Developed and delivered maritime project security planning and ship security plans for organisations conducting maritime operations across the Gulf of Guinea and Aden High-Risk Area.
Consultative support during the planning of the new international airport in Mexico City. This included the delivery of security planning and security design workshops to key project stakeholders including master planners, EPC design teams, airport operators and the Mexican Civil Aviation Authority.
Before joining Control Risks, Danny served 16 years in the British Army as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer. He conducted daily dynamic threat evaluation, security surveys, risk assessments and management of risk mitigation measures whilst deployed on operations in Europe, Africa, South America, the Balkans, Central and Southeast Asia. This often involved liaison with International NGOs, police and armed forces, security services and other security stakeholders. His work was conducted in well-established security frameworks in austere, complex and hostile operating environments with limited resources.
Danny holds Postgraduate Certificates in Security Management and Terrorism Studies. He holds an International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management and a Master’s degree in Business Continuity, Security, and Emergency Management. He is a qualified Aviation Security Professional Manager (AVSEC PM) and holds a certification in Airline Security Optimisation, as well as maritime Company and Port Facility Security Officer Certifications. He is a PRINCE2 practitioner and APMP project manager. Danny is currently studying for a Professional Doctorate in Security Risk Management.
