Robert Boyd is Managing Partner, Intelligence & Analysis (I&A). With 30 years’ experience in strategic intelligence, geopolitical risk consulting, investigations and compliance risk management across three continents, he advises multinational corporate and investor clients on complex strategic issues.

Robert has held key leadership positions across Asia, Europe and Africa, combining deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, commercial approach to support clients operating in challenging and fast-moving markets.

As the global head of the I&A practice, Robert leads a team of over 400 specialist strategic intelligence, political risk and 3rd party risk management practitioners who utilize our broad and deep human source network supplemented by AI-driven research capabilities to deliver actionable insights to clients.

Robert also leads on the partnership with Seerist, a majority-owned subsidiary of Control Risks, which provides threat intelligence AI enhanced by Control Risks’ human-generated country risk analysis to over 450 corporate and government clients.  He provides clarity in complex situations, guiding clients from insight to action and brings a practical, “hands-on” problem-solving mindset to every engagement.

Recent engagements of note include:

  • Leading on the design, development and delivery of a global anti-bribery and corruption compliance programme for a large listed technology company with exposure to multiple challenging emerging markets
  • Helping a European alternative energy company to understand and resolve the impounding of valuable equipment by customs officials in southeast Asia

Since joining Control Risks in 2002, Robert has held leadership roles in various strategic intelligence, political risk, compliance and investigations practices within the Group. He spent 13 years based in Singapore, latterly as the head of the Asia Pacific region, before returning to the UK in 2023. Prior to his current I&A role, he was responsible for the company’s extortive crime Response business and its 24/7 operational assistance business, Control Risks ONE. Robert sits on the Main Board and on the group Executive Committee.
