John Lane is Senior Advisor, Crisis & Resilience Consulting for Control Risks. Based in Los Angeles, John focuses on issues of workplace violence, specializing in threat assessment, case management, prevention and response programs, and response. John also specializes in providing assessment and case management to clients who are stalked, including high-profile executives, celebrities, athletes and other public figures.

Before joining Control Risks, John was a partner in a threat assessment company based in Los Angeles, providing risk assessment, case management, and training relative to the issue of workplace violence. Prior to this John was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant. During his tenure, John developed their Threat Management Unit and was considered the foremost law enforcement expert on stalking.
John founded the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), uniting public and private sector professionals who are dedicated to issues surrounding threats and/or harassment.
John established the Threat Management Conference, the most prominent conference of its kind in the world.
John holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in Public Administration.
