Based in Bogotá, Colombia, Edward Dean is a Principal who leads Control Risks’ Crisis and Security Consulting practice in South America. As part of this role, Edward delivers tactical, operational and strategic risk-consulting solutions across the region and advises Control Risks’ clients on issues related to risk management, operational resilience and crisis management.
In addition, Edward oversees Control Risks’ security services business in the region including short- and long-term embedded security consultants, executive protection, and travel security services, supporting clients’ operations in a diverse range of business sectors and geographical locations.
Recent tasks that Edward has worked on include:
Prior to rejoining Control Risks, Edward worked in non-financial risk at Deutsche Bank Americas and was the head of corporate security and business continuity for Latin America. Edward has managed security-consulting businesses for Kroll in Latin America and Control Risks in South America in addition to as an independent consultant. Edward was an officer in the British Army before working with Global Strategies Group in Iraq and Afghanistan, later becoming the firm’s commercial manager based in Dubai, UAE.
Edward holds a BSc in economics and politics from Southampton University and an MA in international peace studies from the UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. He speaks fluent English and Spanish.
