Beverly works as a senior analyst in Control Risks’ Global Risk Analysis service. Based in Dakar, she is responsible for the coverage and analysis of Francophone Africa within the Sub-Saharan Africa team. She supports the monitoring and reporting for political, economic and security trends in at least 15 Francophone African nations, while specialising in the militancy and socioeconomic dynamics in the Sahel and regional geopolitics.

Recent tasks that Beverly has worked on include:

  • Managing monthly intelligence collection cycles for a mining sector client operating in Mali, including source-led analysis on key topics such as political instability, regulatory dynamics and terrorism threats.
  • Threat assessment for an international company considering acquiring an industrial mine in central Burkina Faso. 
  • A detailed due diligence report for a commercial bank funding an administrative project in Guinea.
  • Threat assessment for a development finance institution funding a solar energy project in Mali.
  • Bespoke analyses on political and security threats to mining, energy and telecommunications operators in Niger.

Prior to joining Control Risks, Beverly worked as an Africa Specialist with BBC Monitoring, commentating extensively in English and Swahili on a range of issues, including recent military coups in West and Central Africa, Russian influence and global power competition in Africa, and tracking geopolitical and security trends across the African continent.

Beverly is a Senior Associate for the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)’s Africa programme, for which she has published various commentaries on political and security developments in West and Central Africa. She is conversant with French and has a working knowledge of Russian.
