Martin Tornberg is Head of Private Markets and Financial Sponsors.
Based in London, he leads our strategy towards private markets investor clients, with a focus on business and strategic intelligence.
Recent tasks that Martin has worked on include:
- Investigating minority shareholders in a take-private in Sweden, for a major European private equity firm.
- Analysing political and regulatory risks in the financial services sector across Central Europe for a major US private equity firm.
- Delivering executive threat and vulnerability analysis for the CEO of a publicly listed European alternative asset manager.
- Leading pre-investment due diligence on an Italian healthcare software vendor and a landmark fossil-free energy opportunity in the UK, for a top-three global private equity firm and a North American pension fund.
Before joining Control Risks in 2022, Martin spent 25 years in investment banking and asset management across Europe and Asia. He held senior roles in capital markets, direct investment and portfolio management, supporting financial strategy and operations from offices in London, Singapore, Manila, and Hong Kong. Since 2023, he has served on the Nordic Board of the International Project Finance Association.
Martin holds dual master’s degrees from the Stockholm School of Economics and Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) Paris and a FinTech Programme certificate from INSEAD.
He speaks Swedish, French and conversational Russian, learnt from the Swedish Armed Forces Language School.
