Giles Tyler is a Director in Control Risks’ Cyber Incident Response team within the broader Digital Risks practice. He is the practice lead for the cyber crisis management team in the EMEA region and is ranked as a Band 1 individual in the Chambers and Partners Crisis and Risk Management Guide.

His work focuses on complex cyber security incidents, both when Control Risks is the sole external provider during an incident or as part of a wider panel of advisors. He works with teams across Control Risks to deliver advisory, intelligence and forensic services across all core sectors.

Recent engagements include:

  • Responding to cyber security incidents including ransomware outbreaks, operational incidents, fraud, account compromise and malicious insiders
  • Advising a European Engineering and Defence group through a ransomware outbreak with a focus on Threat Actor engagement
  • Leading the crisis management team of one of the largest global FMCG businesses following a ransomware attack
  • Designing and leading the crisis management structure of one of the world's largest charities following a data theft and extortion incident
  • Working alongside physical security teams to address the blended threat of cyber and physical harm posed to companies and UHNW individuals
  • Developing the third-party onboarding and assessment project of a Global Telecoms provider

Prior to joining Control Risks, Giles worked as a Cyber Risk and Governance Consultant, developing cyber crisis management exercises and responding to client breaches. He specialised in regulatory compliance while also assisting other clients with their security control development and implementation.

Giles holds a BA in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Exeter and completed the CompTIA Security + certification alongside the QA GDPR Practitioner’s course.
