Will is a Director of Business Intelligence and Investigations in Control Risks’ London office. A Certified Fraud Examiner and strategic intelligence and disputes specialist, Will has a decade’s experience conducting investigative and intelligence assignments across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Indo-Pacific. His work focuses on assisting legal, financial, and corporate clients with strategy and decision-making through complex litigation, arbitration, and investigation mandates, due diligence, asset searches, intelligence-led political risk, and regulatory investigations into integrity and financial crime issues.
He has worked on anti-corruption cases and traced assets, money-laundering and sanctioned networks around the Middle East and Eurasia including several historic sanctions, forensic dispute, and internal investigation mandates.
Recent tasks that Will has worked on include:
- Due diligence and political risk assessment on Iraqi banks for bribery, corruption, sanctions and political exposure.
- Risk assessment on a range of wealthy international bidders for a major British sporting institution.
- An asset search investigation into a North African state-owned mining company.
- Bespoke evidence and intelligence gathering for disputes between Lebanese businesspeople in the UAE, a Gulf family dispute over prime land in Cairo, and for missing coal shipments for a commodity trader in Egypt.
- Supporting the counsel of logistics sector clients in the UK and Germany to investigate whistleblower allegations over long-term employee and contractor fraud and related-party transactions.
Prior to joining Control Risks, Will worked at global investigations companies in London and in forensic disputes and integrity services in Dubai. He also formerly worked at the Australian Senate on trade and foreign policy, the Australian Chamber of Commerce, and at a boutique trade consultancy.
Will is fluent in Arabic and Persian, with proficient German, Russian, and French. He received his Master’s degree in Global Economic History from Germany and the LSE. His undergraduate degrees are from the Australian National University, where he also taught.
