Ruari supports clients with digital forensics, forensic technology and the management of electronic evidence across investigations, disputes and incident response matters. He works closely with corporate clients, law firms and government bodies, helping them understand, preserve and analyse digital evidence in a defensible way.

Clients particularly value Ruari’s ability to bring structure to technically complex matters and translate forensic findings into clear, defensible conclusions. His work spans the full investigative life cycle, from data mapping and preservation through to expert analysis, reporting and the delivery of written and oral expert evidence. He supports matters involving unauthorised access to information, fraud, intellectual property theft, business email compromise, incident response, whistleblowing, cartel matters, harassment and blackmail, identity theft, and deception investigations.

Recent engagements include:

  • Leading an international corporate investigation into suspected unauthorised access to sensitive information, identifying data exfiltration and coordinating forensic acquisitions across six countries and three continents.
  • Supporting corporate and government clients across matters including fraud, intellectual property theft, cartel and leniency applications, harassment and blackmail, identity theft, email and IP address tracing, and business email compromise.
  • Contributing to the creation and enhancement of forensic quality procedures aligned to UK regulatory standards, including gaining accreditation for forensic examinations.

Ruari holds a BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from Southampton Institute. He is a SANS GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) and an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE).
