As a Director in our High Risk Managed Services (HRMS) team based in London, Matthew oversees our operational security service in high-risk countries. His role is to build permanent, dedicated Control Risks teams in those areas where clients want the assurance of our staff delivering all aspects of our service.
Typically, clients approach Matthew when they need support living, moving and working in specific high-risk locations. Tasks and responsibilities are hugely diverse and frequently time-critical.
Recent engagements include:
- Establishing a 35-strong security team, including all equipment, vehicles, communications and management structures in Kyiv, to support a major embassy in only 30 days.
- Mobilising a security guard force of 40 staff in Guyana to secure offices and accommodation, allowing a major oilfield service company to establish their lead teams.
- Providing a complex movement plan by train and vehicle through Poland and Ukraine for a G7 foreign ministry team, enabling them to attend government-level meetings.
Matthew is known for his highly effective, prompt communication with clients, and his ability to refine and simplify their requirements. His focus is on the outcome – and on getting the basics right: ensuring that people and equipment are in the right place, at the right time, with the correct briefing and management structure.
His experience leading a company of 120 troops in Basra, Iraq, whilst fighting an active insurgency with extremely limited resources, taught him the importance of innovative solutions, team collaboration and decisive action.
Matthew holds an MA in Operations, Technology and Planning from The Defence Academy UK. A qualified ISO 23301 assessor, he holds a UK Resilience Planning certificate from the UK EPC, and an Emergency Response Coordinator accreditation from OPITO.
