Marco Leijnse serves as Partner and Practice Leader of Control Risks’ Security Consulting practice in North America. He and his team are responsible for advising Control Risks’ clients on issues related to enterprise security risk management, security program development and implementation.
Marco Leijnse serves as Principal and Practice Leader of Control Risks’ Security Consulting practice in North America. He and his team are responsible for advising Control Risks’ clients on issues related to enterprise security risk management, security program development and implementation.
Marco’s main focus and experience consist of helping clients evolve and optimize their corporate security programs, including the development of corporate security strategies and security governance and management structures, as well as developing continuous improvement processes, security metrics and key performance indicators.
Examples of Marco’s work include:
- Leading global program reviews and benchmarking exercises of security practices for rapidly growing biotechnology firms, global pharmaceutical firms, financial institutions, major energy companies, global law firms, global retail organizations.
- Advising on the development and establishment of security departments and programs for a large global organization, including the development of an organizational blueprint, security leader selection, and implementation program development.
- Leading and executing a large-scale security vulnerability assessment of a global technology company’s key facilities to address the ability to manage and respond to a number of threat scenarios.
- Being a trusted advisor and coach for security leaders of some of Control Risks’ clients.
Marco started his career as an officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy. He also served in the Royal Australian Navy in several management positions in various regions of the world. This career laid the foundations for his extensive operational risk, security and crisis management knowledge.
Marco holds a master’s degree in management studies from the University of New South Wales in Australia and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and management science from the TUE in the Netherlands.
