Marco Leijnse serves as Partner and Practice Leader of Control Risks’ Security Consulting practice in North America. He and his team are responsible for advising Control Risks’ clients on issues related to enterprise security risk management, security program development and implementation, as well as security master planning and design for commercial and residential developments.
His main focus and experience consist of helping clients evolve and optimize their corporate security programs, including the development of corporate security strategies and security governance and management structures, as well as developing continuous improvement processes, security metrics and key performance indicators.
Recent tasks that Marco has worked on include:
Prior to working for Control Risks, Marco worked in the financial services sector implementing key strategic initiatives with senior executives, as well as for a global management consultancy firm where he developed and implemented management structures and operational solutions for oil and gas, mining and energy clients.
Marco started his career as an officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy. He also served in the Royal Australian Navy in several management positions in various regions of the world. This career laid the foundations for his extensive operational risk, security and crisis management knowledge.
Marco holds a master’s degree in management studies from the University of New South Wales in Australia and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and management science from the TUE in the Netherlands. Marco is a qualified program and project management professional and is certified as a governance, risk and compliance professional. He is fluent in English and Dutch.
