James is an Associate Director in our Crisis and Security Consulting practice, based in the United Kingdom. He specialises in advising clients across the EMEA region on the implementation and enhancement of crisis management and business continuity programmes. James has over a decade of crisis response and resilience experience in the government and commercial sectors – a strategic advisor to a diverse range of clients on matters of organisational resilience, he also provides ‘in-flight’ advisory during crises.
Recent tasks that James has worked on include:
Before joining Control Risks, James worked at Amazon, managing supply chain assurance. He also spent time as a consultant with the UK Ministry of Defence, delivering training analysis and facilitating complex combat exercises. Prior to the commercial sector, James led a crisis response team during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic; and served as an officer in the British Army, with deployments to Ukraine, the Baltic States and South-East Asia, and support to UK contingency operations.
James holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle East studies from the University of Exeter, and a master’s in contemporary Middle Eastern politics from Birkbeck College. He is Certified with the Business Continuity Institute and is a Certified Member of the Institute for Strategic Risk Management.
