German Saenz is an Associate Director in Control Risks' Crisis Security Consulting team.

Based in Bogota, he focuses on providing security advisory services to our clients.

Recent tasks that German has worked on include:

  • Analyzing and identifying threats to oil facilities and surrounding communities.
  • Leading security risk assessments for renewable energy projects across South America, aligning safety protocols, as well as for critical infrastructure companies in Colombia and Venezuela to protect foreign investors and residents.
  • Delivering tailored security awareness programs for executives and expatriates across multinational firms, supporting key industries including food, packaging, communications, and mining.
  • Designing threat mitigation strategies for one of Peru’s largest mining operations, securing both production and transport channels.
  • Supporting high-risk negotiation environments in Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina and implementing proactive security measures to prevent incidents.

Before joining Control Risks, German held several roles in the intelligence and advisory sector. He has experience in planning and developing security scenarios, gathering intelligence from human and open sources, and applying business intelligence and management practices to meet high corporate standards.

German holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Universidad de Los Andes and a master’s degree in Corporate Finance from Colegio de Estudios Superiores en Administración (CESA).

He is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.
