Brian is a Partner and leads the Americas Incident Response business, which supports clients in preparing for, responding to and recovering from cyber incidents and related crises. He advises organizations navigating high-stakes incidents, regulatory scrutiny and emerging technology risks, drawing on more than 25 years’ experience at the intersection of law, cybersecurity, privacy and AI.
Clients engage Brian for his 360° view of how convergent risks play out across government and industry, drawn from federal prosecution, regulatory enforcement, civil litigation, global consulting and entrepreneurship. Most recently, he co-led a 50-person cybersecurity and privacy team at EY-Parthenon. Before that, he spent seven years with the US Department of Justice as a cybercrime prosecutor and National Coordinator for all 300 federal cybercrime prosecutors across the United States. He has also served as a commercial and technology litigator for AmLaw 100 firms including Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison and Morrison & Foerster.
Brian has built his career around understanding, quantifying, reducing and transferring cybersecurity, data privacy and regulatory risk. He has led more than 500 assessments, often for transaction due diligence, and regularly presents his findings to General Counsel, CISOs, CIOs, C-suite and boards. He also leads tabletop exercises, technical testing and board education sessions, working with corporate clients, private equity and family offices.
Brian graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Philosophy, Political Science and Economics, and earned his J.D. magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to the Washington, D.C., New York and California bars, and co-founded FormerGov, a directory and networking platform connecting former government and military professionals.
