Director, Disputes

  • Disputes, Litigation and Arbitration
  • Governance Risk and Integrity

Alex is our Director of Disputes across EMEA. Based in London, he works closely with law firms, banks, corporates, insolvency practitioners and litigation funders.

Clients approach Alex when they hold a judgment, an arbitral award or a strong prospective claim – but face a debtor who won't pay.

Recent engagements include:

  • Analysing the asset profile of a MENA-based aircraft owner and operator to support enforcement of a multi-million arbitral award. Identifying one aircraft wholly owned by the debtor and ensuring its arrest, prompting settlement.
  • Assisting an international client locked in a dispute with a sovereign state over misappropriated mining investment. Tracing the country’s foreign assets, and profiling key decision-makers within the government in question.
  • Assisting an international telecoms company with enforcement of a nine-figure LCIA award against a recalcitrant counterparty. Carrying out asset investigations, surveillance on and examination of a foreign director in England, and banking discovery in the US, following which the client achieved a 100% settlement.

Alex combines three disciplines that rarely meet in one person: his legal background and experience; 15 years tracing assets as an investigator; and underwriting and structuring litigation finance from inside two of the field's leading funders. He has extensive regional expertise across North America, the UK, the EU, MENA and APAC.

He holds an LLB in Law from the London School of Economics and an LLM in International Commercial Law from Kings College London. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a non-practising Barrister, and speaks Russian and Ukrainian.
