Alan Zamayoa is an Analyst for the Americas at Control Risks’ Global Risk Analysis practice, based in Mexico City. As part of his role, Alan is responsible for providing political and organised crime-related analysis for Mexico and the Caribbean, including Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Likewise, Alan conducts continuous monitoring of regulatory developments and operational concerns facing business activities across the region. Alan also prepares ongoing updates about business-relevant issues in the Caribbean for Control Risks’ security and geopolitical risk monitoring platform CORE.

Recent tasks that Alan has worked on include:

  • Delivering quarterly reports about the dynamic security environment in Mexico and its impacts on the country’s energy sector for a renewable energy company.
  • Providing a tailored a threat assessment on Haiti’s security environment for an international humanitarian medical NGO.
  • Investigating fraud at a financial institution in East Africa for the Governor of the Central Bank. Her work included forensic analysis of accounting records, leading interviews with employees and preparing reports in support of civil and criminal proceedings.
  • Monitoring political and regulatory changes in Caribbean countries including Cuba, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Handing concise reports based on ad hoc requests from various clients with regard to security and political concerns in countries like Barbados and Haiti, as well as particular locations in Mexico.

  • Before joining Control Risks, Alan worked with the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation and also spent time at the Directorate General of Protocol at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. In addition to his native Spanish he speaks fluent English and German.
