Sandrea is a Senior Advisor at Control Risks, providing strategic guidance to the boards and executive leadership teams of major companies as they navigate critical situations. She draws on more than two decades of experience leading critical initiatives across counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and national security.
Before joining Control Risks, Sandrea served as the National Intelligence Manager for Counterintelligence and Assistant Director at the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC). She led teams of counterintelligence officers focused on regional and functional mission areas, guided the development of nationwide strategies, interagency plans, and outreach initiatives to strengthen the counterintelligence operations.
Prior to her role at the NCSC, Sandrea completed a second tour at the White House National Security Council (NSC) as Director for Homeland Issues and Counterterrorism, where she coordinated U.S. Government policy on international and domestic terrorism issues. Sandrea also served as a Section Chief in the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, leading teams analyzing both domestic and foreign terrorist threats. Prior to that, she served as Director for Counterterrorism at the NSC, where she led interagency efforts to develop counterterrorism policy options and strategies. As the Intelligence Advisor to the Director of the Hostage Recovery Fusion Center, she managed intelligence activities supporting the recovery of U.S. hostages held abroad and provided intelligence briefings to the families of hostages.
Sandrea's previous assignments span the National Counterterrorism Center, the Central Intelligence Agency, and Department of Defense, including a posting at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a master's degree from Georgetown’s School of Public Policy.
