Ammi Small is a Principal in Control Risks’ Crisis and Resilience Consulting practice. He is based in New York City and brings over 18 years of experience working both in-house and as a consultant across sectors and industries including technology, financial services, manufacturing, insurance, pharmaceuticals and government institutions.

Recent tasks that Ammi has worked on include:

  • Providing innovative approaches to Crisis Management (CM) to executive stakeholders across multiple industries and sectors that integrate a best practice approach with cutting edge technology and operational design techniques.
  • Responsible for supporting a leading global pharmaceutical client with a full-scale redesign and implementation of its CM program. This included meeting with executive stakeholders around the world to drive buy-in for an enhanced program while also driving the strategic roadmap for a full program implementation. 
  • Leading the design and development of an enhanced approach to business continuity planning (BCP) for a leading global FINTECH client. Responsible for engaging critical stakeholders across the business to ensure engagement for an innovative approach that met the needs of the evolving business while also aligning with legal and regulatory requirements.  
  • Business continuity advisor to a global technology company, responsible for the design and delivery oversight of business impact assessments (BIAs), business resiliency strategies (BCPs), and exercise and validation activities across critical business functions.
  • Business continuity manager for a global manufacturer with a client community of more than 1400 associates, covering 150 sites in 56 countries and protecting billions of dollars of insured value.

  • Before joining Control Risks, Ammi served in risk management roles at Deutsche Bank., SunGard, Standard & Poor’s and the US Department of Homeland Security. Ammi's skillsets are quite broad and span areas including, but not limited to, crisis management, business continuity, emergency management, enterprise risk management, supply chain risk management and physical security.

    Ammi holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from Binghamton University and a Master of Arts degree in international affairs and security from the American University School of International Service.
