Daniel is a Principal in Control Risks’ Crisis and Resilience Consulting practice, based in Vancouver, Canada. Daniel specializes in advising organizations in the design, implementation and enhancement of enterprise resilience programs to support their operations. He acts as a strategic advisor to executive stakeholders on a broad range of risk and resilience matters, including crisis management, business continuity and enterprise risk management. In addition, Daniel oversees the day-to-day management of Control Risks’ Product Risk consulting practice that helps companies prepare for, respond to and recover from product recall events.  

Recent tasks that Daniel has worked on include:

  • Designed, developed and implemented end-to-end enterprise resilience programs for numerous multinational companies. 
  • Facilitated multiple C-Suite level crisis management exercises, and related debrief sessions, at organizations across all major industries.
  • Manage the annual maintenance of a leading technology company’s global business continuity program.
  • Embedded business resiliency consultant for a Chicago-based Fortune 500 financial services firm.
  • Created enterprise risk management operating models and implemented sustainable risk management frameworks and capabilities at clients across North America.

  • Prior to his current position, Daniel spent six years in the Americas department of Control Risks’ geopolitical risk analysis division, serving two years in Houston, two in Mexico City and two in London. Daniel obtained an MSc in public policy and security studies from University College London. He also holds a law degree from BPP Law School and an undergraduate degree in politics and international studies from the University of Warwick.  

    Daniel is a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) and a designated Control Risks kidnap response “hand-holder” providing first-line incident response support. He has been a regular commentator on international affairs and risk management issues for a variety of international media, including Reuters, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Foreign Affairs and Forbes.
