Zoe Phillips is an Associate Director in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice in Mexico City. Zoe focuses on business intelligence, due diligence and social risk projects in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Zoe has extensive experience conducting business intelligence and comprehensive due diligence across a range of sectors.


Highlights of Zoe’s recent experience include:
  • Strategic business intelligence as part of extensive pre-acquisitional support in the Mexican energy sector, focusing particularly on identifying possible issues relating to corruption, social risk and political influence of potential project partners.

  • Stakeholder mapping for an infrastructure project in Central America, providing detailed profiles of relevant stakeholders, their potential impact on the project, as well as potential engagement strategies.

  • Comprehensive due diligence in the Mexican and Central American energy sectors focusing on contextualising and corroborating allegations of corruption, influence peddling and possible criminal links.

  • Internal investigation for a manufacturing client relating to issues of internal theft and security gaps in northern Mexico.

Prior to her current role, Zoe was Head of Research at Control Risks’ Mexico City office, during which time she managed research requirements in Mexico, Central America, the Andean region and the Caribbean. Zoe has a Master of Arts (Politics) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Bachelor of Arts with honours in politics and Spanish from the University of Melbourne. Zoe speaks fluent Spanish.
