Wei is a Senior Consultant in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice for Europe, based in London. He is primarily responsible for managing business intelligence and due diligence investigations in jurisdictions including the UK, Ireland, France, and the Nordic and Benelux regions.

Wei is a Senior Consultant in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice for Europe, based in London. He is primarily responsible for managing business intelligence and due diligence investigations in jurisdictions including the UK, Ireland, France, and the Nordic and Benelux regions. 


Recent projects led by Wei include: 
  • A business intelligence investigation into a UK entity operating in the financial services industry and its co-investors, including a UK-based private equity fund. 
  • An investigation support for a multinational FMCG company to gather intelligence and evidence with regards to parallel sale of the client’s products by companies based in the Netherlands and Belgium. 
  • A business intelligence review of a multinational pharmaceutical company with regards to its distribution channels in Europe.
  • Multiple litigation support cases, which involved identifying and mapping the asset profiles of individuals and special purpose vehicles across Europe.
  • A targeted investigation for an European company into a potential corporate espionage case against a previous employee, through analysis of business intelligence from China and the US.


Wei was previously based in Control Risks’ Shanghai office where he covered the Greater China & North Asia region.

He has a master’s degree in corruption and governance from the Sussex Centre for the Study of Corruption at the University of Sussex (UK); with his dissertation on the relationship between corruption and the shadow economy. He also has a bachelor’s degree in German Studies from the Communication University of China and did two exchange semesters at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany). 

Wei is a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English. He also speaks intermediate German.
