Thomaz Favaro is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Control Risks’ political risk consulting business in Brazil and the Southern Cone, with management responsibility for the analyst team in São Paulo. He supports clients to successfully manage risks across their regional operations through a range of consulting solutions, including market entry studies, political and regulatory analysis, threat monitoring programs, stakeholder mapping exercises, and the development of corporate risk analysis programs.

He was previously an analyst and consultant on our Latin America analyst team based in Bogotá and London.
Thomaz is a frequent media commentator on current affairs in Latin America in leading print, radio and TV news outlets, including The Economist, Bloomberg, CNN, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, among others. Prior to joining Control Risks, Thomaz worked as international desk editor at a large Brazilian weekly news magazine. He holds an MSc in comparative politics of Latin America from the London School of Economics and a BA in journalism from the University of São Paulo. Thomaz is a native Portuguese speaker and is also fluent in Spanish, English and French.
