Sydney is an Associate Director in our London office, focusing on crisis management, ESG and security consulting. Prior to this role, Sydney established Control Risks’ office in Dakar, Senegal, and managed crisis and security operations and consulting delivery in Francophone West Africa. This involved the provision of guarding, close protection, secure transport, and security and crisis management services for a range of clients.

Sydney is an Associate Director in our London office, focusing on crisis management, environment, social and governance (ESG) risks, and security consulting. Prior to this role, Sydney established Control Risks’ office in Dakar, Senegal, and managed crisis and security operations and consulting delivery in Francophone West Africa. This involved the provision of guarding, close protection, secure transport, and security and crisis management services for a range of clients. 


Sydney’s recent projects include: 
  • Conducting an in-depth post-incident review for an NGO who had experienced death of staff in a violent event; 
  • Conducting a review of crisis management response to the COVID-19 pandemic for a renewable power generation company in Europe and across Africa, then updating plans and conducting relevant training; 
  • Developing a security risk assessment and risk treatment plan to support a pre-feasibility study for a renewable energy project in Cameroon; and 
  • Managing ongoing, multi-year provision of guarding, personal protection and secure transport for multiple clients in Senegal and Mauritania.  


Before joining Control Risks, Sydney’s previous role was as Business Resilience Manager for Heathrow airport, where she managed their crisis management structure and training and exercise agenda, including the planning of large-scale live exercises on site.  She previously worked for Control Risks as an embedded consultant within a large US-based hospitality client, focused on crisis management, crisis management technology, and security policy and procedures. In addition, Sydney held several roles with Control Risks’ and International SOS, working on travel security analysis and operations, often with a focus on West and Sub-Saharan Africa.  

Sydney is a Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP) and holds a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and degrees from Northeastern University (B.A. International Affairs, Middle East Studies) and University College London (MSc in Risk, Disaster and Resilience). Sydney works in French and English.
