His areas of expertise include anti-bribery and corruption advice, political risk analysis, business intelligence, threat and risk assessments, problem-solving, crisis response, training and investigations.

Examples of Rupert’s recent experience include:
  • Advised clients in multiple sectors concerned about how best to manage their businesses in compliance with ethical and regulatory provisions in markets across Asia. This included corruption, ethics and/or anti-money laundering risk assessments, and revising existing controls. Followed by guidance and gap analysis, before training and workshops to facilitate the implementation.
  • Ran numerous market entry projects, assessing integrity, political and security threats and risks for clients considering entering complex markets like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Philippines. This included mapping key risks throughout the supply chain and project lifecycle.
  • Conducted investigations and responded to crises involving possible or actual regulatory breaches or criminal acts. This included terrorist incidents, whistleblower allegations, procurement irregularities, parallel trade, corrupt tender awards, physical threats and human rights violations.

Rupert was previously the director of the risk analysis consulting team covering Asia-Pacific, associate director in the South-east Asia investigations team, and prior to that, practice leader for the Western Europe investigations team, based in London. Before joining Control Risks, Rupert worked in Aon’s Crisis Consulting team, specialising in counter-terrorism and political risk crisis response and risk mitigation.

Rupert holds a bachelor’s honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath and is pursuing postgraduate studies in psychology, focusing on behavioural analysis and deception detection. Rupert speaks French, is proficient in Danish and Italian, and is improving his intermediate Chinese and Japanese.
