Niels Lindholm is a Director in charge of the Western Europe Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence team of Control Risks. As such, Niels manages a team of specialists focusing on business integrity and corruption issues, and helps our Clients manage their exposure to reputational risks and comply with regulatory and governance requirements.

Highlights of Niels’ recent experience include:
  • A regional anti-trust investigation in Latin America. The investigation, under the guidance of US and local counsel, was conducted simultaneously in several Latin America countries. The task involved the collection and data review of over half a million documents, investigative interviews with more than 80 employees, and the preparation of evidence reports submitted to the local market regulators.
  • An in-depth FCPA investigation into an acquisition target in Brazil. Niels and his team found that the company and shareholders were on the radar of public prosecutors for bribing public officials in the State of São Paulo. Our findings helped the Client re-shape its acquisition project and protect itself from reputational damage.
  • A modern slavery investigation in Latin America. When our Client’s local partner was blacklisted for modern slavery in its agricultural operations, Niels deployed for a month in the field to interview rural workers and review their working conditions. The new standards implemented as a result of our work helped the Client mitigate its reputational and regulatory exposure.

Before joining the Western Europe team, Niels led the business intelligence practice for Control Risks in the Latin American Southern Cone. Prior to joining Control Risks, Niels worked at the French Military Attaché’s Office in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Niels has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Sciences and International Security from Sciences Po in Paris, France. Niels is trained by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners – ACFE – in fraud detection and investigative interviews. He is currently undertaking a professional certificate in strategic decision-making with Stanford University.

Niels speaks fluent French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
