Michelle Willoughby is an Associate Director in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice, based in Houston, Texas. Michelle primarily performs due diligence research, threat monitoring and security support for clients across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, media, healthcare and finance.

Recent tasks that Michelle has worked on include:

  • Investigating online and public record exposure and assessing online threats related to a high-profile technology executive and the executive’s family. 
  • Conducting due diligence into a global leader in education for a publicly traded education provider ahead of a multi-million-dollar acquisition. 
  • Monitoring key individuals, groups and organizations to proactively identify threats to a major research institution. 

    Before joining Control Risks, Michelle worked for a recruitment company, where she identified and recruited prospective candidates for Fortune 500 clients. Prior to this, she was a Luna Fellow for a member of the Texas State Senate, specializing in criminal justice and taxation issues. She also worked as a field organizer for local campaigns in Travis County, Texas.

    Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with Liberal Arts Honors. She also holds a Texas private investigator license.
