Matt Evans is an Associate Director for Control Risks Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence team. Matt leads the Data Analytics practice within the EMEA region and specialises in uncovering fraud, risk or compliance issues in complex data sets. Drawing on his experiences from consulting, software development and academia, he specialises in using data analytics to identify anomalous or suspicious events using various techniques.

Matt Evans is an Associate Director for Control Risks Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence team. Matt leads the Data Analytics practice within the EMEA region and specialises in uncovering fraud, risk or compliance issues in complex data sets. Drawing on his experiences from consulting, software development and academia, he specialises in using data analytics to identify anomalous or suspicious events using various techniques. His broad technical background provides full lifecycle experience; from developing and proving initial hypotheses through to implementation in business-critical systems.


Matt’s recent projects include:
  • Analysis of the global footprint of a client in the aviation sector; to identify sanctions, bribery, corruption and reputational risks in various sensitive geographies.
  • A review of structured data retained by a client in the transport sector in support of litigation related to anti-competitive behaviours.
  • Various bespoke analytics in support of cyber investigations across multiple sectors.


Prior to joining Control Risks, Matt has worked across academia, software development and technology consulting; but always focusing on using data analytics to identify patterns in large and complex data. Matt has a PhD in Seismology from the University of Leeds and Prince2 certifications.
