Associate Director in the Discovery + Data Insights practice, based in the UK, Liam specialises in eDiscovery in post breach data and Information Governance. Liam consults with clients on best practices and compiling repeatable workflows to assist clients in detecting PII within their data, as well as developing solutions for more complex scenarios. To assist in this, Liam holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Governance and Data Protection. 

As well as specialising in post breach data, Liam has led multiple cross-jurisdictional eDiscovery and forensics matters across different sectors, including banking, regulatory and legal with over 14 years’ experience in the field. 

Recent tasks that Liam has worked on include:

  • Experience leading multiple forensic and eDiscovery investigations across many sectors including banking and regulatory. 
  • Led a team in a large offshore forensic collection, in cross-jurisdictional regulatory investigation, including collection, hosting and production of data. 
  • Contracted on site at a large retail bank to interrogate ~3PB of customer data for PII. 
  • Leading eDiscovery and data protection efforts in identifying PII in large sets of exfiltrated data. 
  • Development of custom workflows for PII detection including working with vendors to improve processes and detectors. 
  • Before joining Control Risks, Liam has worked at several different types of institutions including, consultancies, banks, law firms and a regulator. This experience was both full time employment and working as a subject matter expert in eDiscovery. Through these roles, Liam has carved out his niche in post-breach data and designing bespoke workflows and PII detection to assist clients. 

    Liam holds a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Southampton in ‘Information Technology in Organisations’ and Post Graduate certificate from the University of Northumbria in ‘Data Protection and Information Governance’. Additionally, he holds several certifications in both eDiscovery and forensic industry recognised tools.
