Jonathan (Jonny) Gray is a Senior Partner with overall responsibility for global sales, account management, partner relations and client experience throughout the Americas region. Based out of the Los Angeles office, Jonny is also one of Control Risks’ most experienced security and crisis management experts, having worked extensively with clients worldwide over his long tenure with Control Risks.

Jonathan (Jonny) Gray is a Senior Partner with overall responsibility for global sales, account management, partner relations and client experience throughout the Americas region. Based out of the Los Angeles office, Jonny is also one of Control Risks’ most experienced security and crisis management experts, having worked extensively with clients worldwide over his long tenure with Control Risks.


Examples of Jonny’s work include:
  • Trained and advised senior executive teams in acute crisis management in over one hundred corporations, including: oil and gas, manufacturing, aviation, financial, professional services, not-for-profit, engineering, technology and other sectors.
  • Designed and delivered large scale security projects for major sporting events, major controversial construction projects, VVIP gatherings, operations in acute/high threat environments and other elevated risk situations.
  • Managed for Control Risks the response to certain world events; including the London 7/7 bombings, the evacuations from Lebanon in 2006 and the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti in 2010.


Before joining Control Risks, Jonny served in the British Army reaching the rank of Colonel. He was commended by HM The Queen for commanding his regiment on operations following the Holy Cross School crisis in Belfast and in the Iraq War. He also served in the Balkans, the Falkland Islands and throughout NATO. He was seconded to the British Ministry of Defence, Whitehall for three tours working on strategic matters .

Jonny has a Masters degree in the Philosophy of International Relations from St Johns’ College, Cambridge. He is also a graduate of the British Army Staff college and won the “Sword of Honour” graduating as top student from The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He is the Control Risks representative in the International Security Management Association (ISMA).
