James Greenall is a Director within VANTAGE, Control Risks’ third-party risk management and compliance business, and is based in Washington DC. Since 2005, James has helped corporate clients throughout the Americas and EMEA manage third-party integrity risks, primarily through tailored solutions encompassing data, human research and intelligence, and third-party compliance management technology to align with evolving standards and regulatory expectations. He specializes in open-source investigations, due diligence program management and third-party compliance program assessment.  

Recent tasks that James has worked on include:

  • Overseeing the design and delivery of the first comprehensive technology-enabled third-party compliance program for a Latin American manufacturer entering a monitorship following settlements with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the US Department of Justice for violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. 
  • Managing a large project for a US logistics client to complete in-country due diligence of more than 150 global representatives of an acquired company within a 90-day timeframe, uncovering several potential successor liability issues. 
  • Assisting a major European oil and gas client with the adoption and integration of a new adverse media dataset into existing systems to enhance the effectiveness of its screening processes by increasing the detection rate of potential vendor integrity issues. 
  • Providing guidance on best practices for third-party due diligence programs to dozens of corporate clients throughout the US, Europe and Latin America, focusing on identifying and mitigating corruption, sanctions, supply chain, ESG and other reputational risks. 

  • Before joining Control Risks, James spent 17 years with a leading compliance due diligence and technology provider in a variety of operational and commercial roles centered on the delivery of high-volume, compliance-related due diligence for corporate clients primarily in the manufacturing, life sciences, technology and hospitality sectors. Throughout this time, he was based in a variety of locations including London, San Francisco, Washington DC and Barcelona.

    James earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Melbourne in Australia and is a licensed private investigator in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
