Daniel Woods is a Washington-based consultant at Control Risks. His work focuses on cyber threat analysis and strategic risk assessment primarily in Latin America and the United States.  Daniel helps clients understand the impact and risk of information security threats particular to their context and develop mitigations that match their needs. He also leverages a diverse range of international experiences in risk management, security, and intelligence to provide clients with holistic solutions.


His recent projects include: 
  • Conducting a sector-wide cyber threat assessment for a client in Central America analyzing a complex cyber risk environment with an array of cyber threat actors 
  • Supporting  exposure and cyber threat assessment for high-net-worth families, determining the levels of online threats facing family members, while also considering layers of physical threats
  • Online threat monitoring for a prominent journalist operating in hostile environments

Before joining Control Risks, Daniel was based in Tel Aviv where he worked as an intelligence analyst with a local group. His work focused on intelligence gathering and supporting tactical operations in the Levant sub-region of the Middle East. This involved data-mining and social media monitoring in addition to collaboration with human sources. Daniel also has experience working for an US-based travel security firm, with whom he worked in Sao Paulo, Istanbul, and Washington. 

Daniel holds a Bachelor’s Degree at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and received a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the University of Haifa in Israel. He is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil and speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish, French, Turkish, and intermediate Hebrew.
