With over 20 years of experience in the field of international business and government relations, helping to build relationships with clients, government officials, internal organizations and other stakeholders, Claudio develops and manages globally-focused political risk, investigative and security consulting projects for multinational strategic buyers, financial institutions, private equity firms (PEIs) and insurance providers

He has broad experience with regards to issues related to geopolitics, commercial, political and reputational/integrity due diligence (360°) and cross-border M&A and greenfield investments and other forms of investment-related activity, including deal/project strategy development and international trade and investment controls/compliance (FCPA, AML, ITAR/EAR, OFAC, CFIUS, etc.).


Some examples of Claudio’s work include:
  • Integrity risk and security threat assessment and monitoring for one of the world’s largest emerging market investor.
  • Anti-corruption and anti-bribery pre-transaction diligence and transaction testing for global investor in renewable and traditional energy production.
  • Project management of corruption and security assessment and mitigation for a major energy infrastructure and real assets investor.
  • Client relationship management for Fortune 100 manufacturing-sector client in connection with delivery of internal investigations and third-party risk services globally, with a focus on China and Latin America.
  • Management of U.S. SEC- and DOJ-led investigations involving one of the world’s largest building materials company.

Claudio joined Control Risks after having worked for Deloitte in New York, dealing with client engagements and delivering on services ranging from M&A to regulatory and public policy initiatives. Prior to joining Deloitte, Claudio managed the Washington, D.C. international affairs and government relations office of EMBRAER, the world’s 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer.

Claudio received an MA in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), specializing in International Finance. He holds a BSE in Systems Science and Engineering and a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. A native Portuguese speaker, Claudio also speaks Spanish and French.
