Allison Wood leads Control Risks’ political risk consulting practice in the US and Canada. She supports clients to successfully manage political, operational, and security risks across global operations, including market entry, threat monitoring, stakeholder mapping, complex problem solving, analyst training, and development of corporate risk analysis programs.

Allison Wood leads Control Risks’ political risk consulting practice in the US and Canada. She supports clients to successfully manage political, operational, and security risks across global operations, market entry, threat monitoring, stakeholder mapping, complex problem solving, analyst training, and development of corporate risk analysis programs. She was previously an analyst and consultant on Control Risk’s Middle East and North Africa analyst team, based in Dubai and London, where she supported companies in navigating the complex business environment in the region.


Examples of recent projects include:
  • Developing a custom, threat assessment methodology for the security design team of a multinational technology company
  • A risk management and decision making framework to inform a global charity’s donation acceptance process, with a focus on fundraising in the Middle East and Africa
  • Stakeholder mapping, potential partner identification and an assessment of market dynamics for the aviation sector in Qatar
  • An outlook for renewable energy policy, mapping of stakeholders in this policy, and 20-year country scenarios for a client seeking to finance renewable energy infrastructure in the Gulf

Allison has spoken and numerous conferences in the Middle East and Europe and is a regular contributor to the media. Prior to joining Control Risks, Allison worked at the Princeton Institute of International and Regional Studies. Allison holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics form the University of Chicago, where she was awarded a University Scholarship and focused on issues related to Islamist political parties across the Muslim world. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, where she graduated magna cum laude from the department of Near Eastern Studies. She speaks Arabic and French.
