Alex Bevan is the Americas Analyst in the Special Risks Analysis team based in London. Alex is responsible for providing analytical support to deployed Control Risks consultants working on active kidnap-for-ransom cases, for sharing up-to-date analysis of kidnapping trends on Control Risks’ online platform CORE and for producing bespoke analysis detailing kidnap-for-ransom trends for clients’ individual risk exposure.

Alex Bevan is the Americas Analyst in the Special Risks Analysis team based in London. Alex is responsible for providing analytical support to deployed Control Risks consultants working on active kidnap-for-ransom cases, for sharing up-to-date analysis of kidnapping trends on Control Risks’ online platform CORE and for producing bespoke analysis detailing kidnap-for-ransom trends for clients’ individual risk exposure.


Examples of Alex's recent engagements include:
  • An in-depth threat assessment for a multi-national company seeking to begin operations in two different locations in Honduras. The assessment included an analysis of the kidnap-for-ransom threat, as well as related crimes such as extortion, express kidnap and virtual kidnap. 
  • A succinct analysis of the kidnap-for-ransom and extortion threat to a multinational oil and gas company planning to send personnel to multiple locations in Mexico. The report provided an industry-specific overview of the threat to the company and its employees. 
  • A high-level overview of the kidnap-for-ransom and extortion threat in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The analysis explored typical victim profiles, common abduction locations and the likely perpetrators of the crime and the tactics they most commonly employ. 


Prior to joining Control Risks in August 2018, Alex worked as the Development Director for a social enterprise in Guatemala, where he worked for three years. Previously he spent time living in Nicaragua and Argentina, working on international development projects focusing on enterprise development and environmental conservation. Alex has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Spanish from the University of Exeter and speaks fluent Spanish.
