Mexico Cyber Threat Outlook Report

The cyber threat landscape in Mexico continues to evolve, with a growing number of threat actors and motivations shaping targeting of organisations in the country. According to the 2020 Internet Crime Report published by the FBI, Mexico was the 9th most targeted country globally – taking the top spot in Latin America ahead of Brazil – with a steady increase in number of reported incidents in the past few years.

Mexico’s large economy and rapid digitalisation, coupled with persistent shortcomings in cyber security capacity and culture, continues to motivate a range of cyber threat actors to target the country. The significant disruptions triggered by COVID-19 has further led to an increase in cybercrime, and the change in working practices means organisations will face challenges in adjusting to the “new normal”, not least with regards to cyber security.

Against this backdrop, Control Risks has published an annual report “Mexico Cyber Threat Outlook” to help further understand the cyber threat landscape in the country and the risk management strategies needed to navigate these digital threats.
