Control Risks further strengthens its global investigations and data localism capability with new international data centers
Technology innovation combined with Control Risks’ deep in-country expertise enables organizations to tackle compliance, investigation and audit needs more confidently across territories with data residency requirements.
LONDON – October 3, 2018
Control Risks, the global specialist risk consultancy today announced two additional international data centers in Frankfurt and Johannesburg to support its extensive global-discovery offering.
In the wake of the GDPR and other laws with a data localization imperative, data privacy and residency are a top priority for organizations finding themselves facing varied and complex data management rules and regulations. The data localism trend has big implications for organizations with cross-border matters and plans for international expansion. The EU, China, Russia, South Korea, South Africa and others have enacted data localization rules requiring specific data categories to be stored within country borders.
“At a time when organizations are adjusting to data privacy requirements, it is essential for us to approach data-intense investigations from a place of deep local understanding and a technology-enabled approach for the various compliance and regulatory requirements.”
Senior Partner and Practice Leader of Control Risks’ Technology group
In addition to this growing data center footprint, Control Risks has expanded its global technology and eDiscovery team with the addition of Neil Meikle as head of the Forensics Technology business across Europe and Africa.
Organizations should have frameworks in place for how to handle operations in territories with data residency requirements. The benefits and flexibility offered by in-country cloud service providers, which Control Risks relies upon to expand into new countries is a significant rapidly evolving capability. However, organizations must still actively manage their compliance within data privacy and regulatory obligations.
