Insurance

Control Risks was founded in 1975 as a subsidiary of the Hogg Robinson insurance group. Although we have since become independent, our relationship with, and understanding of, the insurance industry remains strong.

Control Risks' interactions with the insurance industry fall into two categories: security risk assessment and management services are used to help calculate and reduce premiums, and post-incident services are used as a benefit of coverage.

These services include:

  • Political and security risk analysis - we provide a range of subscription-based and bespoke consultancy services to advise War and Political risk underwriting teams in London and New York about their books of insurance business.
  • Security audits – our audit services provide an independent assessment of the risks that particular assests, buildings and projects face. We can combine political and security risk analysis with a security management capacity to establish the likelihood of certain types of incidents and the damage that they could cause.
  • Security engineering – our security engineers can follow up a security audit by implementing suggested changes and helping to reduce premiums
  • Information security – we can undertake a full strategic review including an assessment of the value of information held by the client, the current risks that they are exposed to, the existing systems in place to manage these risks and a gap analysis with benchmarking against international best practice to devise the most rigorous solutions.
  • Incident response – our kidnap response services are provided through Hiscox at Lloyd’s as part of their kidnap insurance coverage. Control Risks can get a specialist consultant to any location in the world within 24 hours.
  • Travel and personal security – with our travel services, companies are able to track where their employees are travelling. This provides the ability to flag when employees’ travel would breach security policy and potentially jeopardise a claim.
